Not just a Taste of the Fair

NOT JUST A TASTE OF THE FAIR: We were fortunate enough to be invited to last night’s Taste of the Fair, the fundraiser for the State Fair Foundation traditionally held one week before the opening of the Great Minnesota Get-Together. It was magical!

M and I enjoyed food samplings from: Blue Barn (chicken in a waffle cone); Dino’s Gyros; Minnesnowii (shaved ice—I had cherry and orange creamsicle); Poncho Dogs (corn dog—Pronto Pups was also there; it was a difficult decision!); Shanghaied Henri’s (adult beverage for M, water for me); Sweet Martha’s Cookie Jar (chocolate chip); Que Viet Concessions (Vietnamese egg rolls); and a new Fair food, lemon sorbet, from Fresh Squeezed Lemonade. There were other vendors there also, but dear readers—we could only eat so much! A special shout out to Fresh Squeezed Lemonade for their new sorbet creation—well done, you!

M won a basketball for our youngest son, and an adorable stuffed horse for me. I usually pass the stuffed animals off to one of the grandkids, but I’m keeping this one. It spoke to me.

The activities afforded, the friends we encountered, others we just met—completed a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

M and I are Friends of the Fair, because we believe that for twelve days, it is the most entertaining and fun, cultural and educational venue anywhere, hands down anywhere! The Minnesota State Fair Foundation helps to preserve and improve the buildings, the grounds, and the programming not only for the Great Minnesota Get-Together but also for other events held on the grounds during the year. Thank you Minnesota State Fair Foundation!
